UPDATE:
The problem is solved since 15 minutes. All is up again. Thank you for your patience if you had to suffer from it.
One of our server centers (
init7) is down for unknown reasons yet. The people of the server center are already working on it and we hope we are up again in no time.

Around 16:15 we had some problems with a malicious attack on one of our old frameworks resp. servers at hoster
Cybernet. We could fix the problem pretty quickly.
At the same time, Cybernet opted for a complete shutdown without informing us. And then the nightmare began. It was impossible to reach anybody for hours or when we finally did, it still took hours to get someone to bring us back. So it was only around 20:30, we were back.
We are deeply sorry for the inconvenience caused and we are also very upset by the behaviour of Cybernet.
Next time, we expect that we are contacted first - normally this could have been solved without a shutdown in less than 30 minutes. We care for our customers. And we just expect the same from our hosters.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! AKEMASHITE OMEDETOU GOZAIMASU!
If you happen to be in Switzerland, it's possible that you will spot the chinese new year poster of the golden pig. It's size is A2 and it offers several QR Code goodies. The result of one of the codes only works in Switzerland, but all the others are open to everyone.
For the downloads behind some of the codes, be aware of the data rates of your provider. From our side everything is offered for free, unless the SMS where normal SMS rates of CHF 0.20 apply.
Download Poster as PDF:

Tomorrow, the third edition of Musicstar (aka American Idol, Superstar) will start on Swiss National Television. Kaywa provides the blogs for the candidates.
What's special is that the candidates can moblog their videos right from their mobile phone and everyone can then see their flash-movies some seconds later (see
Sandros and
Muhammeds Videos below).*
Another thing to mention are the mobile tags aka QR Codes which give an easy access to the mobile version of their blogs.
Although we know that the candidates are working hard (currently from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m) and that their main aim is to perform at their peak, we hope they still find some time to blog. And hey, blogging is not like schoolwork, it's freewheeling and random thoughts, images and videos. And it's a great way to offer something to your fans from behind the scene.
Currently the following blogs are open (one "hope candidate" will join them next week):
Albresha
Börni
Brian
Fabienne
Luca
Monica
Muhammed
Rebecca
Sandro
We wish you good luck and a very good time.
HOW TO GO TO THE MOBILE VERSION OF THE BLOGS
2021700002
To go to the mobile version, we use the example of Albresha's Blog:
- Scan the mobile tag on the left with the Kaywa Reader
- Send a SMS to 202 with QR 2021700002 (works only in Switzerland)
ALTERNATIVES:
- Type 2021700002 in your Kaywa Reader ("Options", then "Enter short code")
- Create a QR Code with http://d.kaywa.com/2021700002 to read it with any QR Code Reader at qrcode.kaywa.com. See the result here.
* A similar technology from Kaywa is already in use on
rebell.tv, but Rebell takes his videos with a digital video camera.

«Diversity@Kaywa»:
If there are equal candidats of both sexes in the final round, candidatures of women will take precedence.

The old framework of Kaywa (about 10% of the whole infrastructure) took a dive earlier this night and went silent. Our valiant Vali took immediately his car (around 8:20 pm) and went to the servers. As it was not an easy task, it took him longer than expected to fix all the issues.
So thank you Vali who missed the game (Zizou respectively France won by the way) and
our dearest apologies to all who wanted to read or post before or during the game.
We are transferring all blogs from the old to the new framework, but it takes time. At the same time, the growth rate on all frameworks is constantly high. As an example I just want to mention the
football blogs which you can find here. Some of them just added 4-5000 visits a day from day one.

Soon Kaywa will provide the free Kaywa Reader for mobile phones with which one can read 2D Barcodes and especially QR Codes (QR = Quick Response).
As you can see on the
QR Code Generator site, you can encode URLs, Text, Telephone Numbers and even SMS.
We also provide a service to encode ten digit numbers. You can see an example in the right navigation bar on
this blog. The download page for the Kaywa Reader can soon be found on
www.ichiba.ch
If you want to know more about QR Codes, start reading
the 2D Barcode category on the Mobile Life Blog (mobile.kaywa.com).
